Rob Majury, a retired police lieutenant from New Jersey, sh*t and k*lled an 18-year-old man who had been stalking his 14-year-old daughter after the man broke into the family’s Naples, Florida, home armed with a shotg*n. Authorities declined to charge Majury, citing the state’s stand your ground law.
The daughter, TikTok creator Ava Majury, had built a large following on the app when a follower identified as Eric Rohan Justin, of Ellicott City, Maryland, began messaging her obsessively across Snapchat, Instagram and other platforms. Justin pleaded with her to unblock him, sending Venmo payments of $159.18, then $100, then $368.50 with the message, “sorry this is all I have left i’m broke.” Rob Majury texted Justin directly, telling him that Ava was a minor and demanding he stop contacting her.
In the early hours of July 10, 2021, while the family slept, Justin arrived at their Naples home and used the shotg*n to blow open the front door before the weapon jammed. Majury gave chase but fell, gashing his knee, as Justin fled the property. He then armed himself and waited at the front door in case Justin returned. When Justin came back and pointed the g*n at him, Majury opened fire. “At that point I took action and neutralized the threat,” Majury said. Justin d*ed from his injuries.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office determined Majury’s actions were legally justified under Florida’s stand your ground law, and he was never charged. The family later moved houses and Ava began homeschooling, with her mother describing life afterward as involving “more security on our end, more reviews with accounts, more checking in.” Despite the ordeal, Ava has continued posting on social media, telling reporters she hoped speaking publicly about the case would serve as a lesson for others navigating threats online
