Our cruise is over….
Two missed ports due to protests and weather
But lovely food, plenty of drink and great company.
Here’s a lovely photo of our penultimate night at sea from the 12th deck balcony.

We were on there too, didn't like 4 days at sea.But love cruising
Wow fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
We have been to Seville from Cadiz that was good but we like to just wander in Cadiz. So easy from the ship, a market with local food and some beautiful buildings. Enjoy! ☺️
On a norwegian cruise at the moment Didnt get to go the top to see the northern lights due to weather apparently. Just sitting in isolation in southern ports racking up $1000’s in medical bills while others are coughing their guts up in dining rooms and staff will do nothing about it Same for flights Never again.
A messege to joby holland no 1 can control the weather you say your cruise is over well there other people who had to wait in turn to have their cruise and we one of of those people at home
Similar situation on the Rotterdam. Port cancelation, a helicopter emergency evacuation in the middle of the North Atlantic, and 30 ft seas with 111 mph winds 😱😱. Our 11th floor balcony was like standing under a full shower of continous sea spray. It's calmer now as we head closer to Bermuda
Been there, the aea was so wild our pool almost completely emptied. We had to.turn our ship away from our tropical destinations, instead we ended up in freezing cold Hobart, Tasmania.
When you're out on the Water, enjoying Nature, Life becomes a Lottery. We were over at White Island having a look around, a couple of month's later it went off, kîľľing many. Could just as easy have been our time!!! 😳
We was on deck 5 in that sea , definitely felt bad for the people on decks 12 13 14 must have wobbled a bit
Two years ago a storm covering south of England meant we spent 2 nights on board in Southampton. At least we could leave the ship and go into Southampton. However one cruise line did decide to leave as we were being told staying put. No idea how rough their trip was. We did miss hamburg though, the main reason for the cruise. But p and o did look after us.
We have just got off our first cruise today. We went on Legend of the seas, amazing ship! We missed France due to the weather. I honestly wasn’t expecting to have so much motion I’m definitely gonna have these sea legs for a while 🤢
Happened to us on our transatlantic due to a storm. Skipped Waterford & Dublin😢 because the water was too rough Im the canal & docks. Couldn't jeopardize the ship. But like you said, great food, etc.
We were on board QM2 in 2017 in a massive storm mid Atlantic with Chris Wells at the helm and they rescued a solo racer which was pretty cool to watch, to being on board Queen Victoria last year and captain cautious ( can’t remember the man’s name) missed two stops in not really rough conditions as better be safe then sorry 😳
Been the same weather for a few years at this time. Beginning of November always good, out in channel and biscuits. No protests at ports. This week.
Remember to get a letter for missed Ports and claim then you can put it down as deposit for another cruise
What ship were you on? And where were we supposed to go originally itinerary? Thank you I’m supposed to go on a Progresso, Cozumel, and New Orleans soon.
We missed ports too cos of weather on the epic
Good captain, good ship job done, get the stabilisers out move a bit of water around ship steady , passengers happy.
Wow we were on deck 12 the previous cruise to you. We had fabulous weather ( sorry) never saw waves like that. Glad you got some enjoyment out of your time on beautiful Iona. We can’t change the weather unfortunately. Hope your experience doesn’t put you off cruising. We were very lucky but wouldn’t hedge our bets again and would likely go between May and mid September. But you can’t predict sea conditions in the BOB at any time of the year .
We got off Iona this morning that was rocking we where on deck 14, then some poor person needed a medivac 🙏they are ok
We've never claimed for missed ports ...didn't know you could but I do now!
In the brochure or on the website it will say something about not visiting ports. In most cases weather is a factor and the day is spent at sea. If there’s a civil disturbance or unrest it might be the port authorities decide that the risk to the staff at the port and passengers is such that it is unsafe to allow anyone on or off the ship. Safety is something cruise ships and lines take seriously.
Beautiful ship and food we just got off today but never slept for the rocking and shacking lol
Now THAT is a storm!
Not always poor weather I've sailed in October more than once and gad calm crossings and good weather, been across in August and it was awful.
Here’s me nipped awa for a shite and missed it all 😕
l love it when it is like that, several years ago we were in the Bay of Biscay during Storm Angus and not many of us down for dinner and a lot of the crew were ill too
We got off Iona this morning too! Took us almost 6 hours to get home too, we're shattered. But had a fabulous time regardless. Ship was great, food and drink, staff attentive too. Roll on March when we step into Arvia for our first Caribbean adventure 🙌
Am I the only one freaking out a bit from looking at these waves. I've had nightmares of tipping from being on a really high deck
Wow! I thought we had it bad coming back from Canada
Back in 1960 before stabilisers When I was twelve I was on a small cargo ship trapped between two typhoons when we were going ftom Singapore to Hong Kong. It was rough. None of the five passengers were allowed to go on deck.
Unfortunate but if you cruise at the end of October you Will inevitably encounter poor weather and cancellations. I’m in the Carribean right now and even here the sea is swelling a lot!
Thank God its over!
Meh , like a mill pond 🤪 ,we just went across the Tasman sea from NZ to Sydney , 6 metre swell and 40knot winds . Rocked us to sleep nicely .
All looks like no fun. Travel by trains thru a country and really see it . Our only way of travel . 35 countries of 12 days or more lets you immerse yourself . Nothing like it ……
Having flash backs to our stormy cruise a few years ago Took a few days to get our land legs back
We was on there too Shame about the storm and missed ports but made the most of it 1st cruise for us hasn't put us off and just checked with insurance and we will be getting £300 for the 2 missed ports
We got off Arvia on Friday morning. Missed Toulon due to protests and Cadiz (our favourite port) because of the weather. Docked Southampton on Thursday evening instead of Friday morning, hard decisions had to be made but safety comes first. Thoroughly enjoyed the cruise anyway, lovely food excellent service and met some lovely people. ☺️
Beautiful picture of the Bay I suspect? Been on like that in the past , your a Bay of Biscay vet. Now , welcome to the club lol 😆
Me glad I booked the 12th floor and not the 5th 😮
