🚨 OPERATION SUNDOWN: $5.8 MILLION ALLEGED HOA FRAUD SCHEME DISRUPTED
Your association fees are meant to protect your home and your community—not fund someone else’s lifestyle.
Following an extensive two-year investigation, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Organized Crimes Bureau, working in partnership with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, arrested individuals allegedly involved in a $5.8 million criminal scheme targeting condominium and homeowners’ associations across Miami-Dade County.
Investigators allege that association funds were diverted for personal gain while elderly, primarily Spanish-speaking board members were exploited.
For many residents, their home is their greatest investment and the foundation of their family’s financial security. When that trust is violated, those responsible must be held accountable.
Let this serve as a clear warning: If you exploit our residents or steal from the communities you were entrusted to serve, we will investigate, we will find you, and we will hold you accountable.
The subjects have been arrested and charged. This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Joanne Lozano · They should review all the HOAs in the county !!! Laguna Club in Flagler for when ??????
We need it all over Florida they're taking advantage of landlords.
COME TO HOMESTEAD!! THEY HAVE BEEN ROBBING US FOR YEARS IN OUR COMMUNITY. EVERY DAY THEY KEEP RAISING THE CDD..THE ASSOCIATION..AND EVERYTHING GETS WORSE. PORTOFINO EAST HOMESTEAD
Excellent!! And when they go to jail, part of their sentence should be to pay back every dime they stole. Enough is enough.
I lost my unit at Castle Beach because of the board in the 90s.
This is happening everywhere. The smaller HOAs think they are immune. It’s so frustrating. How do we start the process to stop the corruption in smaller 55+ communities?
I went to do some work at a condominium and the manager told me to put the double the amount of the work on the invoice so he could keep the money.
We need an announcement, it's time to face the drill Sergeant in Orgins9. I don't want another private manipulated. It's not an federal right to secure a witness without probably cause.
We need this ! Great job 👏 more to go
That has been happening for many years. Very good job and thanks to the authorities. The best would be to abolish these associations. They do nothing for our communities.
Does anyone know the name of the property management company these people worked for?
Congratulations, excellent, they should audit all condominium associations
There should be a law where all HOA are audited.
