A 2021 study found that 96% of patients with alpha-gal syndrome reported remission of their symptoms after auricular acupuncture. Researchers reviewed 137 patients treated at two clinics, with 126 providing follow-up information. Of those, 121 reported that their symptoms were in remission after the treatment.
The results were based on patient-reported symptoms, and the study was retrospective rather than a randomized controlled trial. The researchers said the treatment needs to be tested in prospective studies with laboratory confirmation before and after treatment.
