Ok I’m in the minority here but I don’t think learning cursive is a useful skill in today’s society or will be needed in the future, so I think the time could be better spent on teaching kids other things. Your signature is whatever you want it to be and yes, printing your name counts as a legal signature. How many of you have signed legal documents recently? I refinanced my mortgage in 2021 and everything was handled through email and the internet. I pay all of my bills online so I don’t need to write checks. Like I said, I know I’m in the minority.
Thanks goodness. So much more important than affordable insurance…
I believe teaching history, social studies, and government would go much further. Kids don’t get any exposure to these areas until middle/high school…
Having one's own unique signature should be a source of personal identity and pride! (This is just my individual opinion.)
Finally. As it should, that is when we learned how to write in the 70's. By the 90's kids did not even know what cursive was.
Bring a keyboard in cursive mode
Signing your name on official papers of any sort is one reason why it never should have stopped.
That is a smart move. Legal documents, bank documents all require a signature. Many other places require a written signature.
We all should. The Declaration of independence and Bill of rights is in cursive. If ya cant read that how will ya know what your rights are?
Will they be able to find teachers who can write cursive?
Lol. 3 to 5? They taught us in 2nd grade in the 90s. Long story short, my print hand writing is that of a 2nd grader cuz i actually wanted to write in cursive. Hell, they told us it was mandatory to write in cursive by the time we were in 5th. Oh well. At least they're bringing it back. 😁😁
How is a person to sign important documents if not for cursive? Everyone has a unique signature and it's not printed.
Children with fine motor skills issues have been increasing year after year. Teachers are actually the ones reporting it. Cursive helps significantly with improving fine motor skills, it’s one of the things they used to help my son in OT. This is very beneficial for students.
