Drunk Man Breaks Into Dog Shelter After Losing His Own Dog to Cancer

Shelter staff first thought it was a robbery. Security cameras showed a man wandering through the kennel aisles after midnight, the dogs wide awake, watching him from behind their gates. No one could tell what he was looking for.

Then another camera revealed the truth — he wasn’t stealing anything. He was curled up on the floor, surrounded by dogs.

Police later said he had been drinking that night, grieving the death of his own dog just a week earlier. Nothing was taken. No animals were harmed. He was arrested for breaking in, but shelter workers admitted the footage was hard to watch.

He didn’t come for money.
He came because he missed his dog.

That's not nice of the police!! He did nothing to the animals 😢, he was just missing his fur baby and found comfort sleeping with them , likewise the other doggies loved that he slept with them .
Lisa Mercedes This broke my heart. I just recently lost both my furrbabies and i go to the dog park almost everyday just to see other pups. The loss of ur pet is alot harder than ppl think. I still cry over my babies. He shouldnt have been arrested or charged.
Moushumi Nag Why did they report him to the Police? Could they not have been more humane in their approach? The loss of one's dog is hard to bear...
Kathleen Peters This test to what a good human he is look at all these big dogs that do not know him laying around him to sleep. I know it might’ve been wrong, but he should not get charges.
Dixie Kimball He needs to show up and sleep with the dogs more often. He and the dogs both would benefit greatly.
thats just incredible.. those dogs knew or might have sensed what the man is goin trough and that he is a man with a good heart
They should give him a pup 🥺
Omg leave the man be. Have empathy. As humans we should be caring and understanding for something like this. What is so wrong with a person needing animals in a time of need if nothing was damaged, taken, etc
Jeff Everhart That man should be allowed to do his service at the shelter. The dogs could use as much love as he needs himself. At some point when do we start showing compassion to people who are grieving? People who commit drug related crimes or theft crimes get less time and less punishment than this poor man will probably end up getting. The Humane Society needs to show a little compassion and agree, not to press charges. At some point when do we start having a heart?
Danree Heath If nothing was stolen, have him give back to the shelter. It will help him and help the dogs too. Show some compassion. 😞
Devine Kyz nobody talking about the fact he spent 3 hours gathering all the dogs just to finally feel safe and comfortable enough to sleep🥲
The dogs needed him as much as he needed the dogs. The way I see this, all of them were comforted by each other. The man needs another dog or all of these dogs with him. I would like to add, I hope charges are dropped as clearly he needs comfort. Losing a dog can be traumatic.
It seems like he unlocked a new job title. Overnight dog cuddles. It appears to be as good for the dogs as it was for him.
Sleep overs at kennels should be a Thing
Dogs probably knew his pain and cuddle with him to comfort him.
Seriously, give that guy a job helping with the dog. They helped him just as much as he helped them.
I think you all should hire him afterhours to be there since the dog's loved it.
Order some grief counseling and give the man community service at the shelter.
Drop charges put him on 40 hours of community service working at the shelter
