Both side go the fuck back from where you came from
Why can’t we all get along?🤣
Wow! I'm WV hillbilly born, SC raised, and a 46 year Floridian. I watched the first wave back in 80, followed by more and more, some assimilated and some did not. Happens everywhere. I did get out of south Florida because it wasnt southern anymore. As long as they dont bring the norther attitude and politics down with them as they are fleeing what they actually elected, then we'll gladly take your mone.
Both are visitors, act accordingly
Nice attempt at division, when Real Estate developers and politicians are doing everything they can to rape Florida and destroy it's wilderness in order to profit from these two at minimal cost. How about tax breaks to developers when they excercize Urban Renewal, as opposed to leveling virgin land.
My husband served in the Army. He and his unit came home with the CIB! (combat infantry badge) One of his men came home after losing both of his arms. They served our country, for ALL Americans. And now my husband and our family live in Florida. And we get to see the nastiest side of people he fought to protect. He's good enough to leave his wife and baby to go serve but not good enough to live in Florida? Get a grip lol The mental illness of some of you is appalling and just shameful. And disgusting. You can be proud of your heritage without using it as some sort of entitlement to be gross.
I've lived in Florida since 1975, which is longer than many of you have been alive. So, please don't refer to me as a transplant...
Some of y'all are forgetting American citizens have American freedom and American rights. I've never seen so many nasty unAmerican people in my life! Do y'all think your birth states entitle you to act like this? I try avoiding these conversations because I'm not a "generational Floridian" as I'm reminded of frequently. I had to finally speak up lol My family moved here last year so my husband could work for Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. Tons of our deputies and officers aren't born here, yet those who brag about their birth rights sure use the 911 services. Same with having their children in schools taught by teachers not born here. You eat at restaurants with servers not born here. Yet it seems there's a deep dislike and rudeness to those not born here. If you are so rudely against "transplants," you shouldn't be able to use any "transplants" services. Seems like a fair trade. Don't like us, find your own group then. Also, how un-American can you possibly be!? Most of you are conservatives, correct? People who tells illegals to stay in their home land and that American birth rights matter? Does America and her rights end at the Florida border? Hardly. Florida is a state in the amazing United States of America. "Flo grown" doesn't entitle anyone more rights or freedoms than any other citizen with a USA birth certificate. You all know this. How hypocritical is it to sit there and preach against people who have every right and freedom to move and purchase a home in their own country, to use their freedom to choose LEGALLY, all the while protesting illegal immigrants stealing American liberties. Being born in this state, or any other state, doesn't make anyone better than anyone else lol I understand the devastation and loss of land from development. We saw the same thing in our home town in Northern Michigan. I get the traffic is bad and old people drive absolutely awful. But the immature labels and insults and condescending attitudes towards other Americans based on their birth state is about as childish as you can get. I have biological family born here. They moved to Michigan and still live there. So let's just consider their niece carrying on their Florida heritage. I have 2nd generation cousins. I have 1st generation nieces and nephews. At what "generation level" do people have the "right" to proudly live here without stupid yankee comments or transplants labels lol Stop giving America and her birth right freedoms a bad name. And if you call 911 and the dispatcher isn't born here, hang up until you can find a "flo grown" one. Enrolling in school? Only let "flo grown" teach your kids.
They ALL need to go!!
And which one actually pays more taxes and spends more money in Florida? We don't need snowbirds anymore we have enough full timers here now!!!!
Got to say being a American citizen pretty sure all 50 states are mine to do what I likes since native of the good ol US OF A
Forgot immigrants from Latin America. Puerto Ricans in Kissimmee, Brazilians in Pompano, and Hondurans in Lake Worth. Finishing off with Cubans in Tampa and Miami.
I dont understand so much hate for people that move to Florida permanently. Everyone has one life and reasons why they move anywhere. A lot of good people move to Florida. There’s no real reason to hate someone automatically because they were born somewhere.
I am going to continue talking about how bad pizza is here. Otherwise I’ve assimilated well.
If you weren’t born here because your parents move in the last trimester, then you spent a lot of your childhood here and have lived here 31 years, are you still a transplant?
How long do you have to live in FL till your no longer considered a transplant? I mean you'll always be a transplant but not a brand new transplant.. a FL seasoned transplant? If it wasn't for my fathers Navy career I would have loved to live here all childhood teen and adult to elder age.. any considerations for a Navy kid?? Didn't really have a choice.
I'm a transplant, we came down here 8 years ago. We didn't bring our Illinois lifestyle with us. We came to Florida 8 years ago to assimilate and to be in Florida and to learn how Florida ran and abide by the rules that are set by florida. We came to be Floridians because we were tired of the b******* in illinois.
Been in Florida 34 years. I’ve lived in Florida longer than I’ve lived in the state I was born in . ( I lived only in Wisconsin & Fl) I’ve adapted quite easily to living here. We got a couple acres & left a good part of it natural for the wildlife. I never once complained that anything is better than up north. The only thing that disappoints me is the speed of urban sprawl. The last 5-10 years it’s out of control and our county commissioners seem to approve every new community without any thought to how it will affect the wildlife & the wetlands ( the traffic sucks as well). As far as snowbirds go, if you’ve worked in the service industry in Fl for any length of time, you’re always going to run into those annoying part time residents who think everything up north is better than here. I’m from Milwaukee. Nothing in Milwaukee is better than what we have in Florida. You couldn’t pay me to move back . I’m so glad we moved here when we did & raise our son here. The 90’s were a wonderful time in the Naples area. I’m glad we got to experience it before it became what it is now.
Yeah I grew up in Syracuse but I moved here after I got out of the USCG to be around a lot of fellow veterans. The Syracuse weather is terrible for my ailments and i'll be honest with you, aside from the weather and a severe lack of ice hockey infrastructure with overwhelming demand for it (i live near Pensacola), there isn't much of a difference between here and there. People are basically the same wherever you go.
Everyone(snowbirds and transplants) missing the point.... Natives are pissed because of the influx of people moving to our beautiful state and destroying it. Forests, fields, native animals displaced to make way for more homes to accommodate more people, our ecosystems, our waterways, and don't even get me started on the added traffic. Because of the influx, paradise is being paved. Paradise is disappearing. Vacation here. Hell, even become a snowbird, just stop moving here. When we say we're full, what we mean is the state itself can't take it. The land, the wildlife, the ecosystem, the aquifers. All of it.
Snow Birds are only here a few months a year. Transplants (and I'm one) are only bad when they try to change the area into that of the place they relocated from. Enjoy the area in Florida that you moved to. We don't care how it was done in NY, DC, Cali, etc.
