King Tide Sends Water Into Hollywood Beach Streets 🌊🌴
Hollywood Beach looked very different Sunday morning as unusually high water pushed into coastal areas during South Florida’s latest king tide.
Flooding was reported around Hollywood Beach and other low-lying areas of Broward County, with water reaching streets and parts of the Broadwalk.
The National Weather Service warned that the king tide cycle could produce minor to moderate coastal flooding along portions of South Florida’s Atlantic coast during high-tide periods.
Hollywood is especially vulnerable because of its low elevation, miles of shoreline and waterways, and shallow water table.
And this isn’t necessarily a one-day problem.
The City of Hollywood lists September 26 through October 1 as one of its expected periods of higher-than-usual tides in 2026.
Officials warn that wind, rain, waves and other conditions can push water even higher than predicted.
⚠️ If you encounter a flooded roadway, don’t attempt to drive through it.
The National Weather Service specifically warns people not to walk or drive through floodwater. Saltwater can also be particularly damaging to vehicles.
Hollywood Beach can be sunshine, palm trees and beautiful ocean views one day — and a reminder of the power of the Atlantic the next. 🌊
