Maybe we can remind Josh Levy, Mayor of Hollywood, FL of his previous stance….💔 – Linda Schuler
“As mayor, I have always defended and protected the existing height limits along the broadwalk area.
There has not been one new tall building approved along the broadwalk during my time as mayor, because the investment community knows that violating the height limits of central beach is a nonstarter for Hollywood and for me.
The low-rise village scale of the broadwalk area is one of the main elements that make Hollywood beach special and feel special. It also forms the basis of the market position of our beach as a standout visitor and beachgoer destination in South Florida. I will always preserve that.
As mayor, I’ve focused on property improvement grants that help owners restore and preserve the original buildings of our beach, and build within our height limits with many recent and great examples of success. Preserving the character of our central beach is paramount.” – Josh Levy
We need the power of the people once again. Lets keep the commissioners there all night listening to us.
Remind Josh Levy what he said when he was trying to get your vote!

My understanding is that the reasoning behind the overlay may be that property owners can still potentially obtain additional height through the state’s Live Local Act. By creating an overlay, the city is establishing criteria that owners would work with the city to meet, allowing the city to retain some level of control over how development occurs, while also potentially creating a way for the city to capture additional revenue. If that is the reasoning, then I can see why it might be considered a reasonable approach. That’s also why I find it somewhat strange to focus so heavily on fighting this at the city level when the state’s Live Local Act can potentially override what the city can do anyway.
It was always a pre, forgone conclusion and the fact that they even purport to give us an inkling of a say in the matter, by letting us go up and express our heartfelt and justifiable concerns was just a facade. Apparently, already decided with zero votes from the actual residents
So what I'm hearing is that he only cares about height limits for the Broadwalk which he's making out to be some type of major tourist attraction. It isn't. Why doesn't the rest of the beach deserve the same preservation? Josh is well aware that the majority of residents are against this project, but it's what HE wants. He owes us all an apology.
Has anyone see what "affordable housing" has done to Sunrise Intracoastal neighborhood, since the re-development of the Galleria Mall? There's a quaint neighborhood behind where the mall sits. Million dollar single family homes. Similar in size to Hollywood's "Lake" community. Can you imagine 9 x 30 story buildings? Allowed through use of "affordable homes act" which allows developers to bypass zoning regulations.. density, height restrictions, etc
When one lifts the grift positions shift.
Looks like they are filming a sissy King Kong movie
How quickly they forget! It must be the heat down here?
Maybe times have changed and the economics of an affordable low rise beach town are no longer practical or sustainable.
