My son’s got one next to his front porch and when I come over to visit it scoots right in the middle of the sidewalk and looks right up at me enough to scare the hell out of me.
.. my neighbor called me over because there was one and he had the shovel and was gonna kill it, I removed it and put it in my front garden.. and told him it’s actually an endangered species and if you kill one you’re gonna get in trouble .. then I let him and his daughter touch it…
I have them by the butt load. I must have a healthy eco system in my food forest. Lot's of Yellow Rat snakes too.
If I see one in my yard, I go right back in my house. The yard is yours for the rest of the day
If you have Black Racers in your backyard, you won't have rats in your backyard or venomous snakes
I truly love the black racer I've seen them killed baby pygmy rattlesnakes they suck them up like spaghetti truly a good snake to have around
Our black racer and I have met several times as I open a gate to the side yard.. We both panic, neither of us knowing what to do and then he/she quickly disappears. I’ve also whipped around a corner and surprised he/she while sunning on an ixora hedge. We both go the opposite direction as quickly as possible.
