The deepest place on Earth already has our trash in it.
A plastic bag. Resting at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, the lowest point in the entire ocean.
Think about how far down that is. You could drop Mount Everest in there and its peak still wouldn’t break the surface. Hardly any human has ever made that trip. Our garbage made it anyway.
That’s what stings. We keep acting like our rubbish just vanishes once it leaves our hands. It doesn’t. It travels to places most of us will never see, and it stays.
One throwaway bag, sitting in total darkness where sunlight never reaches.
We should all be ashamed. Genuinely.
