Warning ⚠ Nile Monitor lizards are now established in Cape Coral, and they’re far more dangerous than iguanas. They’re bigger, faster, aggressive when cornered, and they eat almost anything—including small pets. Cold weather doesn’t slow them down, making them harder to control. Both Nile Monitors and iguanas are invasive in Florida and legally classified as prohibited, which allows authorized personnel to humanely euthanize them.
